State of the Wilderness Site Rules and Regulations

STATE OF THE WILDERNESS GUIDELINES:

Welcome to State of the Wilderness! We are glad you are here!
State of the Wilderness was created as a place for all Hockey Wilderness lovers to connect and carry on the gamethread and community traditions that they know and love. We strive to continue Hockey Wilderness’ goal of creating a fun and welcoming place for discussing everything Minnesota Wild. As such, we have adopted the same guidelines community
members were used to on Hockey Wilderness, with some changes and additions due to the new forum. Let’s get to it!

PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

● PERSONAL ATTACKS: This includes name-calling, insults, threats, hurtful comments about someone’s appearance, voice, or style, and all other forms of attacks. We want
our forum to be a safe and fun place. Personal attacks are the opposite of that.

● ATTACKS ON STAFFERS: It is fine to critique a post, disagree with a take, or point out errors. However, personal attacks on administrators and moderators will not be
tolerated.

○ This works both ways. Moderators are expected to conduct themselves at a higher standard. If members are feeling attacked by moderators for whatever reason, they are encouraged to contact one of the administrators:

○ All reports will be treated seriously and confidentially.

● DISCRIMINATORY OR DEROGATORY LANGUAGE: This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or other forms of discrimination.

● HARASSMENT: This includes, but is not limited to, intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography, use of sexual or discriminatory imagery, comments, or jokes, and unwelcomed sexual attention.

● DOXXING: Publishing any private or personally identifiable information about any member, administrator, or moderator is strictly prohibited.

● SPAM: We have a zero-tolerance policy on spam. Spam will be deleted and spammers will be penalized.

● MISINFORMATION OR DISINFORMATION: Sharing Demonstrably false information about news or world events, beyond the scope of reasonable sports opinions or analysis, can be harmful to the State of the Wilderness discussion.

○ A unmoderated forum has been created for hockey based political and world event conversation called THE SIN BIN. While unmoderated, administrators will oversee it to make sure it stays civil and does not get out of hand.

■ THE SIN BIN IS BEING CREATED AS A PRIVILEGE; IT STILL HAS TO ABIDE BY SOTW AND FORUMOTION RULES AND GUIDELINES. ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS WILL CAUSE THE FORUM TO BE SHUT DOWN.

● WISHING HARM ON ATHLETES, COACHES, REFS, ETC.: Yes, there are players and teams that we despise, but do not root for injury or harm to befall any player, coach, team management or ref. You can want someone to get fired, released, or subject to suspension or tougher penalties, but please do not wish for bodily harm.

● ILLEGAL ACTIVITY: Don’t promote, encourage, or make light of any kind of illegal activity, including DUIs, domestic violence, or sexual assault.

● PIRACY: The sharing, hosting, distribution or piracy of works and content protected by copyright and intellectual property or any infringing practice is prohibited. This includes
the sharing of links to illegal game streams or downloads.

○ PAYWALL SITES: You may post quotes or excerpts or tweets from these sights, but refrain from posting whole articles from these sites. IE, these include such articles from either the Athletic or Star Tribune by way of example.

● NSFW IMAGES AND COMMENTS: Keep it PG-13 or you will be penalized or banned. This includes language and images that are sexual, violent or generally offensive in nature.

● EXCESSIVE PROFANITY: Fans get worked up on game days and we get that. As a general rule, keep profanity to a minimum.

● MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS AND EMAILS: These are a signal that you are not interested in being a productive member of our forum, and we will not allow it.

● TROLLING: We know it when we see it, and it will not be tolerated. I t will be removed and the troll will be banned.

PENALTY SYSTEM:
● Site infractions are called penalties. As in hockey, there will be minor penalties, major penalties, and match penalties.

○ Minor penalties are warnings. 3 warnings will be issued and if infractions are still occurring, a major penalty will be assessed.

○ Major penalties will put you on a penalty board and you will be moderated for 30 days. If no other infractions occur during the 30 days, the penalty will fall off the board. Again, 3 major penalties will be assessed. These can be assessed either
separately or as a result of infractions during a moderation period for a previous major penalty. After 3 major penalties, any further infractions will result in a match penalty.

○ A match penalty is basically a ban from the site. Match penalties can be appealed, but any reinstatement request will have to be brought before the site administrators for review. Administrator’s decisions after review are final.

■ IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY TO DODGE A MATCH PENALTY BY
CREATING A NEW NAME AND WE DISCOVER IT, YOU WILL BE BANNED PERMANENTLY FROM THE FORUM WITH NO POSSIBILITY OF REINSTATEMENT.
